Breathe life into your personal experiences while imagining the other possibilities of your life through fiction. This course is designed for emerging writers, aiming to introduce them to the world of short stories, and provide them with practical tools for crafting narratives based on personal experiences. Instructor Ayelet Tsabari, author of two best-selling fiction and essay collections, ensures a supportive and dynamic environment that encourages authenticity, boldness, and originality among students. Through a combination of craft lectures, readings, discussion in small groups, and guided exercises, writers will gain a solid understanding of the fundamental elements of short fiction. They will also acquire techniques for editing, rewriting and critiquing their own work, and for experimenting with creative writing. Ayelet’s lessons, exercises and self-directed assignments all lead toward the goal of completing a 1,500–3,000-word story draft, which Ayelet will review for an additional fee (see details under “Stream B”).
Stream B: For an additional $150, students can also upgrade to Stream B and receive written personal feedback from Ayelet on a short story. The work could be the story written in this class or another unpublished short story of up to 3,000 words. (Only 12 Stream B spots available.)
Payment plans can be arranged. Email to request.
