Join award-winning journalist Sadiya Ansari for a crash course on the art of the interview. The contributor to The Guardian, VICE, and The Walrus will offer quick tips for laying the ground for good conversations, approaching adversarial and evasive subjects, and other ways to level-up your interviewing skills.

This 45-minute live lecture is free and open to all via Zoom. Sadiya is available afterward to take your questions about interviewing, as well as her upcoming Pandemic U course Advanced Interviewing: Better Conversations for Deeper Storytelling. Stay till the end and take part in a Pop Quiz contest for a chance to win a cool prize.

Event Format

Live 45-minute conversation followed by Q&A and trivia with prizes (approximately 1 hour total); access to watch Replay until June 18/22.

How it Works

After checkout, you’ll receive a receipt with a link and password for the live Zoom class. You’ll also receive an emailed reminder with the same information a few hours before the session. After the class you’ll get a password to access the Replay.

About the Instructor

Sadiya Ansari is an award-winning writer and editor based in Berlin. Her work has appeared in the Guardian, Maclean’s, VICE, Refinery29, The Walrus, Toronto Life, Globe and Mail, and more. She has worked as a Professor of Journalism at Centennial College, managing editor of features at Global News, staff editor at Chatelaine, produced TV for CBC News, and edited opinion for HuffPost Canada. Sadiya was a 2021 R. James Travers Foreign Corresponding Fellow, and her work has also been supported by the International Center for Journalists, Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council and Toronto Arts Council. She is the co-founder of the Canadian Journalists of Colour, a national network of BIPOC journalists.
