I’m a writer, journalist, editor, filmmaker, educator, and commentator. I’ve worked for such outlets The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, CBC TV, and The Guardian, and appeared on Al Jazeera, WNYC, and other networks. I’ve edited several magazines, co-directed a documentary about men’s mental health, and coauthored the national bestseller Inside the Inferno: A Firefighter’s Story of the Brotherhood that Saved Fort McMurray. My new book, Praying to the West, a travel memoir about Muslims in the Americas, will be released by Simon & Schuster in 2021.
